Unlock Lasher, a Powerful New Symbiote in Marvel Snap

The Marvel Snap season themed around Marvel Rivals is winding down, but a free reward awaits those willing to tackle the returning High Voltage game mode: Lasher, a symbiote leftover from October's "We Are Venom" season. Is this new addition worth the effort? Let's find out.

Lasher's Abilities and Synergies

Lasher is a 2-power, 2-cost card with a potent ability: "Activate: Afflict an enemy card here with negative Power equal to this card’s Power." While he starts with a -2 power affliction, Lasher's true potential lies in his synergy with buffing cards. Unlike other free cards like Agony and King Etri, Lasher's power is significantly amplified by buffs.

For example, Namora can boost Lasher to 7 power, or even 12 (or more) with Wong or Odin, resulting in a substantial -12 or -24 power swing. He particularly shines when paired with the season pass card, Galacta.

Remember, as an "Activate" card, playing Lasher by turn 5 is crucial to maximize his effect.

Optimal Lasher Deck Strategies

While Lasher's meta position is still developing, he excels in buff-heavy decks, especially those featuring Silver Surfer. Here's a sample decklist:

Nova, Forge, Lasher, Okoye, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Nakia, Red Guardian, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Galacta. (This list can be copied from Untapped.)

This deck features expensive Series 5 cards (Red Guardian, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Galacta), but substitutes are possible. Lasher serves as a third target for Forge, ideally saved for Brood or Sebastian Shaw. After playing Galacta on turn 4, Lasher becomes a key player, transforming into a powerful 10-power card (a 5-power Lasher buffed by Galacta, inflicting -5 power).

Another potent, though expensive, decklist uses Namora as the primary buff card:

Agony, Zabu, Lasher, Psylocke, Hulk Buster, Jeff!, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Spider, Galacta, Gwenpool, Symbiote Spider-Man, Namora. (This list can be copied from Untapped.)

This deck requires several Series 5 cards (Scarlet Spider, Galacta, Gwenpool, Symbiote Spider-Man, Namora). It leverages Galacta, Gwenpool, and Namora to buff Lasher and Scarlet Spider, spreading power effectively across the board. Zabu, Psylocke, and Symbiote Spider-Man support early play of high-cost cards. Jeff! and Hulk Buster provide backup.

Is the Grind Worth It?

Given the increasing cost of Marvel Snap, acquiring Lasher through High Voltage is a worthwhile investment if you have the time. High Voltage offers various rewards before Lasher, making the grind potentially rewarding. While not a guaranteed meta staple, Lasher's potential, similar to Agony, makes him a valuable addition to multiple meta-relevant decks.
