Netflix has unleashed the debut trailer for Happy Gilmore 2, teeing off on July 25th, 2025! The trailer sees Adam Sandler returning to his iconic role nearly 30 years after the original film's 1996 release. He's joined by familiar faces including Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller, and the ever-villainous Christopher McDonald, reprising his role as Shooter McGavin.

New additions to the cast include Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (Bad Bunny), Sandler's daughters Sadie and Sunny Sandler, and Blake Clark. The trailer even starts with a fun nod to SpongeBob SquarePants!

Netflix also confirmed a star-studded lineup of professional golfers, featuring John Daly, Paige Spiranac, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, and Will Zalatoris. NFL star Travis Kelce also makes a cameo appearance.

Here's Netflix's official recap of the original Happy Gilmore, in case your memory needs a refresh:

The original Happy Gilmore concluded with Sandler's titular character finally at peace after a grueling golf season (and a memorable brawl with Bob Barker). His mission: raise enough money to cover his grandmother's back taxes. This led the failed hockey player to become the most unconventional golfer the Tour Championship had ever seen.

Happy made allies (including the late Carl Weathers' Chubbs Petersen and Allen Covert's homeless caddy) and enemies (Christopher McDonald's Shooter McGavin and Bob Barker), but ultimately triumphed against the odds. He proved his worth, saved his grandmother's house, and returned home a victor.

How the sequel will resurrect Gilmore's golf career remains to be seen, but one thing's certain: Happy Gilmore is a legend, even among the world's best golfers.

News of Happy Gilmore 2 first broke in March 2024, with Netflix officially ordering the sequel in May. The film is directed by Kyle Newacheck, from a script by Sandler and Tim Herlihy.
