Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 actor Ned Luke assures fans that the wait for GTA 6 will be worthwhile, even predicting a staggering first-day revenue. Discover what to expect from GTA 6 and its development.
Rockstar Games: A Surprise in Store for GTA 6?
GTA 5 Actor Predicts $1.3 Billion First-Day Sales for GTA 6
Ned Luke, the voice of Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts GTA 6 will generate $1.3 billion in its first 24 hours. In a recent interview with Fall Damage YouTube channel, Luke expressed his excitement, highlighting Rockstar Games' unpredictable nature and the promise of a truly exceptional game.
He emphasized patience, assuring fans, "It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He referenced GTA 5's impressive $800 million first-day haul in 2013, confidently asserting that GTA 6 will significantly surpass that record. Market research firm DFC Intelligence supports this optimism, projecting over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in revenue within the first year, with a billion dollars stemming from pre-orders alone.
The Return of GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6?
Luke also offered insights into the potential return of GTA 5 characters in GTA Online and, possibly, GTA 6. He noted Michael's absence from GTA Online since its launch, contrasting with the appearances of Trevor and Franklin.
Luke hinted at Michael's possible inclusion in a speculated final GTA Online DLC or even a direct role in GTA 6. While Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5) previously suggested Trevor's death as a "passing the torch" moment (ScreenRant, January 2025), Luke remained coy: "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite the actors' enthusiasm, no official confirmation regarding their characters' appearances in GTA 6 has been made.
GTA 6: In the Testing Phase?
Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is likely undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz (via GamesRadar), York described the game's unique unpredictability: "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."
York believes GTA 6 is currently undergoing in-house testing, adding, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras." He suggests the game is at least playable and that numerous internal testers have likely completed playthroughs.
Rockstar Games unveiled GTA 6 with a trailer in December 2023, yet further details remain scarce. While a Fall 2025 release was previously suggested (based on Take-Two Interactive's 2024 financial report), no official release date has been announced.
