A recent development update from The Chinese Room sheds new light on the vampire hunters in Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2. This faction, known as the Information Awareness Bureau (IAB), operates covertly on a shadow budget, despite not receiving government support. Their agents, under the guise of conducting "training exercises" and "counter-terrorism efforts," actively hunt down vampires, whom they refer to as "Hollow Ones."
Leading the IAB's operations in Seattle is Agent Baker, a disciplined pragmatist known for her unwavering commitment to eradicating vampires. Dubbed "The Hen" by her loyal followers, Baker meticulously investigates strange occurrences and delves into historical data to uncover the connections to the clandestine vampire society. Her authority and dedication are unmatched, making her a formidable adversary.
The hunters are exceptionally well-coordinated, maintaining tight security both outside and inside their base. Confronting them alone is daunting, as they work in teams, use spotlights for surveillance, and communicate via portable radios. In combat, they employ thermic batons, which are effective against defensive maneuvers, and phosphorous grenades to flush enemies out of hiding. Their sniper crossbows, equipped with explosive bolts, can cause severe damage if not swiftly removed.
Despite their prowess, the hunters have vulnerabilities. Physically, they are weaker than ghouls and vampires, which opens up strategic opportunities for players. For instance, characters with the Fire skill can intercept grenades or bolts mid-flight and hurl them back at the hunters. Additionally, members of the Ventru clan can use their powers to possess an enemy hunter, turning them against their own team.
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is set to launch in the first half of 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, promising players a thrilling and strategic battle against the formidable IAB hunters.
