In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you primarily play as the Wanderer, striving for peace. Your journey offers significant choices impacting the main storyline, and you'll frequently have companions battling alongside you. These companions remain at your side throughout the battlefield, though you can occasionally take direct control. They're incredibly powerful, often surpassing the Wanderer's effectiveness, even with upgrades. Here's how to switch characters.

How To Switch Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Switching to a companion is only possible during battles where you have one accompanying you. Before a battle, during the war council, your companion will be the final option in the menu. You can choose to fight alone, but companion switching isn't available then. Once the battle begins, your companion's health bar appears below yours in the bottom right of the screen.

Beneath their health bar is a blue meter, similar to your Musou gauge. This fills as you fight, gaining energy from actions like:

• Parrying attacks
• Perfect dodging
• Assaulting Officers
• Using Weapon Arts

Most combat actions contribute, albeit at varying speeds.

Once your companion's blue meter is full, a "Change Character" button appears beside it. Press and hold this button for about a second to switch. This is the View button on Xbox, C on PC, or the Touchpad on PlayStation.

Switching characters mid-battle is strategically advantageous, as companions are exceptionally powerful, though control is temporary (approximately one minute). The blue meter, which triggered the switch, will gradually deplete, indicating the remaining time. Your new character will start with full Bravery and a range of potent combat arts.

The character switch initiates with a powerful attack, so aim carefully. Your companion also possesses a full Musou gauge and health bar, allowing immediate use of their special attack to decimate enemies.
