You can craft new gems and level up the ones you've already unlocked, although the process can seem quite random at times. Crafting gems in Dynasty Warriors: Origins involves using Pyroxene, which you can do at any Inn or tent in the game. Once in your room, select the "Create Gems" option, the second from the top, to start crafting. You can use as many Pyroxene as you have, with each one used crafting a gem at a one-to-one ratio. There are five types of gems you can craft, and each Pyroxene you use has a chance of producing any of these gems.

When you craft a base gem, it starts at level 1 and can be equipped through your Battle Preparations menu. Crafting the same type of gem again will grant XP to the base gem, leveling it up and enhancing its effectiveness with each level gained. If you're not particular about the specific gems you get, you can use all your Pyroxene at once to craft numerous gems and level them up randomly.

For those who prefer certain gems, there's a feature called "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" that might activate when crafting a single gem. This feature randomly selects three gems that will be the only ones crafted with the Pyroxene you use. You can cancel this effect by exiting and re-entering the gem crafting menu. While crafting one gem at a time can be time-consuming, it's a strategy you might use if you're aiming to activate Eyes of the Sacred Bird for a specific gem.

Pyroxene, essential for crafting gems, can be found scattered throughout the game's overworld as orange crystals protruding from the ground. Interacting with these crystals will net you one Pyroxene, but the crystal will disappear afterward. After completing Skirmishes or Battles, some of the Pyroxene in the overworld will respawn, encouraging you to revisit old areas to gather more. Additionally, you might occasionally receive Pyroxene from letters you can read in your room at an Inn or tent.
