This guide details how to obtain and utilize Hydreigon, a powerful Dark/Dragon-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Hydreigon's pre-evolutions, Deino and Zweilous, are exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet, requiring trading or transferring to obtain them in Pokémon Violet.

Acquiring Deino and Zweilous:

  • Pokémon Scarlet: Locate Deino in the Alfornada Cavern, Dalizapa Passage, Glaseado Mountain, Area Zero, and North Province (Area Two). Higher-level Deino (levels 35-40) reside in Alfornada Cavern and Dalizapa Passage. Zweilous can also be found in these locations, as well as in 4-star Tera Raids (requires 3 gym badges). Deino can also be found in 3-star Tera Raids.

  • Pokémon Violet: Since Deino is Scarlet-exclusive, utilize trading via the Union Circle (requires Nintendo Switch Online) or Pokémon HOME to transfer it from another compatible game (Sword/Shield, Pokémon GO, or Scarlet).
  1. In Pokémon HOME, move Deino to your Basic Box. Save and exit.
  2. Open Pokémon Violet in HOME and transfer Deino to a PC Box. Save and exit.

Evolution:

Deino evolves into Zweilous at level 50, and Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64. Utilize auto-battling or Exp. Candies (L and XL recommended) to expedite the leveling process.

Hydreigon's Strengths and Weaknesses:

Hydreigon, a pseudo-legendary Pokémon, boasts a base stat total of 600, excelling in Special Attack and Attack with good Speed. A Timid (+Spd, -Attk) or Jolly (+Spd, -Sp.Attk) Nature is recommended.

  • Stats: HP: 92, Attack: 105, Special Attack: 125, Defense: 90, Special Defense: 90, Speed: 98.

  • Type Effectiveness:

    • Super Effective Against: Dragon, Ghost, Psychic
    • Weaknesses: Fairy (4x), Fighting, Bug, Dragon, Ice
    • Resistances: Grass, Water, Fire, Electric, Ghost, Dark
    • Immunities: Ground, Psychic

Terastallization mitigates Hydreigon's 4x weakness to Fairy-type moves. Its movepool allows for both physical and special attacking strategies. Consider moves like Nasty Plot, Dragon Pulse (or Draco Meteor), Dark Pulse, and Flash Cannon (Steel-type via TM) to cover its weaknesses. Hydreigon can be obtained from 5/6-star Tera Raids.
