The highly anticipated Amazon TV series based on the iconic video game "God of War" has not yet premiered, but it's already secured for two full seasons. Showrunner Ronald D. Moore, who stepped in after the exit of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, shared insights during a conversation with Katee Sackhoff, his former colleague from the acclaimed series "Battlestar Galactica."

Moore expressed his excitement about working on the project, stating, "Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in. So I'm literally in the writer's room, and working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being a seasoned gamer himself, Moore humorously admitted his struggles with modern game controllers, mentioning classics like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He recounted his attempts at gaming, saying, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead."

For the "God of War" series, Moore has taken on multiple roles, including writer, executive producer, and showrunner. His previous work includes notable contributions to "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "Deep Space Nine," as well as being the showrunner for the critically acclaimed 2000s "Battlestar Galactica."

While some members of the original team have departed, Sony's Cory Barlog remains involved as an executive producer. The series is set to be based on the 2018 "God of War" game, though further details are yet to be finalized.

Amazon's swift renewals of other video game adaptations like the "Fallout" TV show and "Secret Level" following their successful launches suggest a promising future for the "God of War" series on the streaming platform.
