How to Play Marriage Rummy

Marriage Rummy is played with 3 decks of 52 cards, with options to add up to 3 Man Cards and 1 Superman Card. The game supports 2-5 players and typically lasts 4-5 minutes per game. Variations such as Murder and Kidnap can add further excitement.

The primary goal is to arrange twenty-one cards into valid sets.

Terms

• Tiplu: A card of the same suit and rank as the joker.
• Alter Card: A card of the same color and rank as the joker but of a different suit.
• Man Card: A joker-faced card used to make sets after the joker is revealed.
• Jhiplu and Poplu: Cards of the same suit as tiplu but one rank lower and higher respectively.
• Ordinary Jokers: Cards of the same rank as tiplu but of a different color.
• Superman Card: A special card used to make sets in both initial and final play.
• Pure Sequence: A set of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit.
• Trial: A set of three cards of the same rank but different suits.
• Tunnella: A set of three cards of the same suit and same rank.
• Marriage: A set of three cards of the same suit and same rank.

Initial Gameplay (Before Joker-Seen)

• Attempt to form 3 pure sequences or tunnellas.
• A superman card can be used to form a pure sequence.
• Show these combinations, then discard a card to the discard pile to reveal the joker.

Final Gameplay (After Joker-Seen)

• Build sequences and trials from the remaining cards to conclude the game.
• Use Man Card, Superman Card, Alter Card, Ordinary Jokers, Tiplu, Jhiplu, and Poplu as jokers to form sequences or trials.
• Note: A joker cannot be used to make a tunnella.
