The Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Systems are essential tools for individuals managing diabetes, providing real-time glucose readings every five minutes for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes patients, including children aged 2 years and older. These systems revolutionize diabetes management by eliminating the need for fingersticks for treatment decisions and calibration, allowing users to always know their glucose levels and predict where they are heading. However, in cases where symptoms do not align with the readings, fingersticks are still required for diabetes management decisions.

A standout feature of the Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro is their ability to deliver personalized trend alerts directly to your smart device. These alerts notify you when your glucose levels are dangerously low or high, empowering you to take timely action. The Alert Schedule feature enhances this functionality by allowing you to customize a secondary set of alerts tailored to different times of the day, such as work hours. You can personalize alert sounds, including a Vibrate-Only option on your phone, though the critical Urgent Low Alarm cannot be turned off for safety reasons.

The Always Sound setting, enabled by default, ensures you receive essential Dexcom CGM Alerts even when your phone is on silent, set to vibrate, or in Do Not Disturb mode. This means you can mute calls and texts but still be alerted to crucial glucose levels, including the Urgent Low Alarm, Low and High Glucose alerts, Urgent Low Soon Alert, and Rise and Fall Rate alerts. A convenient home screen icon indicates whether your alerts will sound. For added safety, the Urgent Low Alarm and three critical alerts—Transmitter Failed, Sensor Failed, and App Stopped—cannot be silenced.

Additional features of the Dexcom G6 system include the ability to share your glucose data in real time with up to ten followers using the Dexcom Follow app, provided there is an internet connection. This sharing capability extends to the Health Connect feature, allowing retrospective glucose data to be shared with third-party apps. The Quick Glance feature lets you view your glucose data directly from your smart device's lock screen, making it easier to monitor your levels on the go. For those using Wear OS devices, integration with the Dexcom G6 system enables you to receive glucose alerts and alarms directly on your watch.

Please note that some features, such as the Alert Schedule, Always Sound, Share, Follow, and Health Connect, are not available on the Dexcom G6 Pro System.
